This weekend, we’re waving goodbye to the last of Mobile Tiki Week celebrations as we close out the festivities with one final round of tropical drinks and events. Check out a list we put together of 14 fun ways to spend your time around the Mobile Bay area.

Things to do Friday, Aug. 21:

Disney’s “Frozen: The Broadway Musical” @ Joe Jefferson Playhouse

Love is an open door, and the Joe Jefferson Playhouse’s doors have been open since 1949 — making it Alabama’s oldest continually running community theater. Secure a spot at their 305-seat venue this weekend for their last showing of Disney’s “Frozen: The Broadway Musical.”

Pro-tip: Parking for the theater is available at the Murphy High School parking lots and on the theater side of S Carlen (please be mindful not to block any of their neighbors’ driveways). Get to the theater early to allot for extra time to park and walk to the theater.

Mobile Tiki Week events

Mobile Tiki Week is a city-wide, week long event where local businesses offer tropical-themed beverages, food and events; a portion of proceeds go to benefit the Feeding the Gulf Coast charity.

This year’s Tiki Week is the largest yet, with 43 participating venues! You can find a list of participating locations and how it started here.

Sheepshead Eats Pop-Up

Sheepshead Eats will have a tiki pop-up at Braided River before heading to the Brickyard! Try their special Tiki Week offering: a crispy, plump pork and shrimp egg roll served with fresh green drizzled w/ spam croutons and a zesty ginger-soy vinaigrette. Chili Cook-off Cocktails for a Cause @ The Merry Widow

Stop by The Merry Widow to enjoy live music from Matthew Jacquette, sip on tropical-themed cocktails, try your luck with prizes while planning another exciting Mobile Chili Cook-off (which benefits the American Cancer Society’s local mission).

Super Nice Bros live @ Alabama Music Box

Take another Tiki Week stop at Alabama Music Box to listen live to Super Nice Bros, a local Mobile indie band that relocated to New Orleans.

Poseiden’s Kiss live @ Moe’s Original BBQ

Grab a tropical cocktail and BBQ before listening to Poseiden’s Kiss live at Moe’s Original BBQ.

Bailiwicks Band live @ The Ice Box Bar

Dueling Pianos live @ The Electric Piano Parlor

The Electric Piano Parlor has two Tiki Week cocktails, the Piano Man’s Hurricane and Island in the Sun. They will also have dueling pianos live at 8:30PM.

MidLife Crisis live @ Veet’s Bar

At 9PM, listen to MidLife Crisis perform live at Veets Bar, a mom and pop music venue that opened in 1998.

Destiny Inbound: A Tribute to Phish live @ Brickyard

Head to Brickyard on Dauphin Street to catch Destiny Inbound: A Tribute to Phish performing live at 10PM.

Karaoke @ Alchemy Tavern

Alchemy Tavern will be hosting a karaoke night at 10PM! Their Tiki Week drinks include: Pink Lady in the Streets, Filling Cups Like Daiquiris and Side Mirrors Flap Like a Jungle Bird.

Don Julio tasting + late night karaoke @ Gabriel’s

Enjoy a Don Julio tasting and karaoke at Gabriel’s! Try their Tiki Week drinks: The Coconut Queen, One More Daddy and Braided River Tiki to the Limit.

DJ MOJO + karaoke @ Slurp Society

Slurp Society will also be having karaoke on Friday, hosted by DJ MoJo. Come try their Tiki Week specialty, Mai Tai pork belly bao, and tropical drinks, the Acupuncture, Blue Yee, Funky Shogun, before they’re gone for good.
