
Mobile Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis and the City of Mobile celebrated the Amtrak Mardi Gras Service’s 100,000th passenger Tuesday, April 21. The line’s success means thousands of visitors are coming to Mobile and enjoying the city’s businesses.
“Passengers aboard the twice-daily service between Mobile and New Orleans have seen a roughly 90% on-time experience and satisfaction ratings of nearly 95%.”

Cheriogotis also said that future visits from American Cruise Lines are planned, meaning even more people will be stopping in Mobile for their vacations.
This uptick in tourism presented a need for more signage to assist visitors navigate Mobile and explore all the city has to offer, Spiro said. In an April 27 newsletter, he announced that signs will be installed throughout Lower Dauphin first, with plans to expand beyond downtown in the future.
“Mobile has so much to offer, and this kind of comprehensive wayfinding effort will help make sure visitors can find something to love about our city while they’re here.”

- Tourist attractions
- Public buildings
- Local amenities
