The 31-year-old powerhouse vocalist entered “The Voice” with an already-established following on social media, as well as a EP titled “Mixed Emotions” that she released in September 2025. Most recently, Jayy performed at The Grammys alongside Lauryn Hill and Jon Batiste. In her Instagram post following the Grammys performance, Jayy mentioned her Mobile roots.

“Performed at the Grammys with @mslaurynhill and some of the greatest to ever do it… and was reminded why I started…this is a gift I’ll never forget 🥹. This one’s for the little girl from Mobile, Alabama who believed she could — and did. It’s only up from here 🚀🔥”

In an Instagram Live interview with Flaunt, Jayy shared what it was like growing up in Irvington.

“It’s a super small town. Everybody knows each other. Everybody went to school together. It was pretty cool growing up now that I’m older. I know all my kid’s parents. Everybody I go to church with is a part of my family. We’re all cousins in there singing and everybody sings. I grew up around a bunch of family and a lot of friends that I don’t have to get rid of. I know in the city, they come and they go. You never know who you’re going to meet. But down here, everybody knows each other. So it’s pretty good.”

Jay began the season with a three-chair turn during her blind audition, after which she ultimately chose Adam Levine as her coach. In the finale’s grand reveal, Jayy was given the opportunity to express what Levine’s support has meant to her.

“Oh, it has meant the world to me. I didn’t expect I’d get this far, so Adam giving me his kind words, and you know, just motivating me, has really brought me so far. And I want to say I appreciate you for that.”

As the four finalists dwindled down to two, Alexia Jayy + Liv Ciara, Levine was able to reciprocate his appreciation for Jayy + reassure her that, no matter the results, she made it.

“Man, my heart is pounding — I can imagine yours is too a little bit. Look where we are. You’re here. You made it. You did it. As far as I’m concerned, these are the two winners right here. And all that you need, you have. I think you already won. So, we love you.”

Jay + Ciara held hands as the season’s defining moment drew closer.

After hearing The Voice’s host, Carson Daly, shout “Alexia Jayy, you did it!” Jayy burst into tears as the crowd erupted in cheers + applause. She could be seen pointing her hands at the audience, appearing to murmur ‘thank yous’ to those that made her win possible.

Levine stated that there is no one more deserving of this honor + shared a hug onstage with Jayy amid a shower of confetti. The show followed the announcement with congratulations from the other coaches.

Kelly Clarkson, who told Jayy earlier in the season that she sounds like if Whitney Houston and Lauryn Hill’s voices had a baby, shared her excited for Jayy first.

“This was Alexia’s night, and I’m really proud of her. Like, I’m gonna cry again! She’s so gifted, and honestly, to see this woman that’s 31 years old, and like, where have you been?”

At the conclusion of the finale, Jayy FaceTimed her mom — with her newly earned trophy in hand.

“I won, Mama! I won! I won, I won, I won! We did it girl, we did it […] I’m so proud of myself. Oh God, this means so much.”

In her song “Famous,” Jayy shared her goal of “making it,” of bringing back help to her city + being able to tell her mama “I did it.” After Tuesday night, it appears Jayy’s dreams have at last come to fruition.

I can do it, it’ll be real hard / I’ll get through it, gotta play my part / ‘Cause my family depend on me and I ain’t letting them down / In my city, I know they need help / When I make it, I’ma bring back help.”
