Inside look at Mobile’s new Jimmy Buffett exhibit, to open Saturday, Sept. 12

The highly-anticipated Jimmy Buffett exhibit inside Mobile’s National Maritime Museum of the Gulf will be officially opening to the public tomorrow on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at 10AM. We got to take an inside look at the 6,000-square-foot exhibit honoring Buffett, which has been two years in the making.
Here’s a quick run-down:
- What: A ribbon-cutting, a mural festival, food trucks, live music, photo opportunities and family-friendly activities
- When: Saturday, Sept. 12, 10AM-4PM
- 11-12PM + 1-2PM: Author Donna Rocco will be signing copies of her book, “Jimmy Buffett: A Little Golden Book Biography”

Pro-tip: Visitors can park at the Maritime Museum’s parking lot at 155 Water Street. In case of overflow, guests can park for free at the Alabama Cruise Terminal parking lot at 201 Water Street or pay to park at the Mobile Convention Center parking garage at 1 S. Water Street.

What to expect at the Jimmy Buffett Exhibit in Mobile
We talked with the team behind putting the exhibit together, who shared their favorite parts about the exciting project, which will be a permanent fixture at the museum.
