B-Bob’s in Downtown Mobile to reopen Friday, July 31

If you’ve been wondering when Mobile’s beloved LGBTQ+ bar would finally make its return — the wait is over. B-Bob’s, located at 213 Conti St in Downtown Mobile, will reopen Friday, July 31, at 5PM.
The bar announced its reopening with a video on their socials this week, showing off the rooftop bar and its perfect view of the Mobile skyline.
First established in 1992 in West Mobile, B-Bob’s is one of Alabama’s oldest operating gay bars. It relocated to Downtown Mobile’s Conti Street in 2002.
Why did B-Bob’s close?
In January, former B-Bob’s owner Jerry Ehlen retired and transferred ownership to Matthew Bees.
Bees was unaware that liquor licenses must be issued to individuals or businesses, and they do not transfer with the sale of a property. In order to properly obtain a new license, Bees voluntarily suspended operations in June — right before Mobile’s pride celebration — in compliance with the Alabama ABC Board.
Now, the 21+ bar will finally be able to welcome back the Mobile community!

What to expect at B-Bob’s
B-Bob’s is a multi-level nightclub featuring a rooftop skybar. They regularly host events such as drag shows, live music and bingo. They also offer a specialty cocktail menu — it’s full of delicious drinks with names that range from tongue-in-cheek quips to homages to LGBTQ+ history.

- The Bradshaw: Grey Goose Vodka, Lime Juice, Simple Syrup, Cranberry Juice
