While there are many blockbuster movies coming out this fall that’ll likely have you racing to buy a ticket, sometimes it’s the classics and older comfort films that truly hit the spot on a crisp autumn evening.

For those of you who yearn to watch a projected movie while on a picnic blanket under the stars, parks around Mobile will be hosting free outdoor movie nights throughout fall Friday nights (with a bonus holiday preview!).

“Halloweentown” – Friday, Oct. 2, 2026

Get yourself in the spooky spirit with a showing of “Halloweentown,” the 1998 fall favorite that follows a young girl who discovers her family is descended from a long line of witches and stumbles upon a town full of supernaturals. Bring some popcorn and set up a blanket at Laun Park to enjoy this family-friendly Disney Channel classic.

“Friday the 13th” (1980) – Friday, Oct. 30, 2026

“Friday the 13th,” a classic slasher-flick from 1980, is about a group of camp counselors stalked by an unseen killer at Camp Crystal Lake. While the showing isn’t on a Friday the 13th, watching the film the night before Halloween is bound to set the mood for a spooky weekend.

Note: This is an R-Rated movie, so it may not be suitable for the whole family.

This Friday movie night is sure to be a favorite, considering this 1978 classic has many “hopelessly devoted” fans. Make the trip to Medal of Honor Park with your T-Birds, Pink Ladies or others to soak in some nostalgia this November.

“A Christmas Story” – Friday, Dec. 4, 2026

“A Christmas Story,” the comedy classic that regularly makes holiday movie watchlists, follows 9-year-old Ralphie and his family’s misadventures during the holiday season.
