It’s nearly been a month since Dolly Parton, one of the most famous musicians of her generation, passed away at age 80. Often celebrated as the “Queen of Country Music,” having won 11 Grammy Awards, Parton was also a prolific philanthropist whose Imagination Library has gifted over 300 million free books to children around the world, according to Billboard.

As a nod to “9 to 5,” one of Parton’s most popular songs, there will be several Dolly Parton-themed events you can attend in her honor this weekend on Friday, Sept. 25 (9/25).

Dolly Day at Hayley’s

Enjoy an afternoon of Dolly-inspired drinks, outfits and music starting at 2PM at Hayley’s Bar (the oldest bar on Dauphin Street)! Sing along to Dolly’s hits while sipping on their signature Dolly Dirt Road Martini.

The Midtown Pub’s fundraiser

Midtown Pub posted on Facebook that it was their “honor and duty to celebrate all of [Dolly’s] kindness, love and philanthropy” on Sept. 25 — and that there was no better way to do so than to raise money for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which mails free books to children.

Beginning at 6PM on Friday, they’ll be collecting books to be distributed to local Little Free Libraries. They’ll also be hosting raffles and have silent auction items, which will include artwork and gift certificates. Drag queens will also be there to celebrate!
