If you’ve visited Tanger Outlets in Foley lately, you may have noticed some changes taking shape.

The Baldwin County shopping destination is in the middle of a major renovation, and while the project was first announced back in April, there’s fresh movement worth catching you up on — from new stores landing on-site to what the finished center will actually look like.

Here’s the latest on what’s coming to Tanger Foley.

The renovation is designed to turn the 555,000-square-foot outlet center into more of a gathering spot, not just a place to shop.

Highlights include:

  • Walkable breezeways connecting the parking lots to a new central green space
  • A shaded pavilion for community events
  • An enhanced splash pad for kids
  • Expanded food + beverage options, including shaded outdoor lounge areas with soft seating
  • A new roadway between TJ Maxx + Skechers, plus additional parking near TJ Maxx for easier access
  • Cosmetic upgrades across the property, including new signage, fresh paint + updated lighting

“This renovation represents an important investment in the future of Tanger Foley. Our goal is to serve as more than a shopping center — we’re creating an inviting place for our community to come together to make memories, share experiences and enjoy even better shopping, food and fun.”

While construction continues, Tanger Foley is also refreshing its retail lineup.

Fashion retailer Buckle and a Toys R Us pop-up shop have joined the more than 100 national retailers already at the center, according to Gulf Coast Media. The new businesses are a sign that the renovation is more than cosmetic upgrades; the project is bringing new brands to Baldwin County shoppers along the way.

When will construction wrap up on Foley’s Tanger Outlets?

Construction started in front of TJ Maxx and will move through the property in phases. Center officials have said the project is expected to wrap up by fall 2027.

The good news for regular shoppers: every retailer is staying open throughout the renovation, though you may run into occasional walkway closures or detours along the way.

Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich called the renovation “an exciting announcement” for the city, noting it will help keep Tanger established as a top shopping and gathering destination in the area.

“We appreciate the long-standing partnership Foley has had with Tanger to help make it the best it can be for many years. I congratulate Tanger for this investment and confidence in our community.”

With a new green space, shaded dining areas and family-friendly amenities like the splash pad, the update leans into making Tanger Foley a place to spend an afternoon, not just run an errand.
