Steel supplier plans 12 new jobs with $20M Mobile County facility

Premium Plate, a TF Warren Company, is investing more than $20 million in a new facility and equipment in the unincorporated community of Axis. It will be the company’s first permanent operation in Mobile County.
Premium Plate’s $20M Axis facility: 12 jobs, January 2027 opening
The new facility at 217 Salco Road will expand the company’s steel processing capabilities. It is expected to open in January 2027 and create 12 new jobs over the next two years.
Premium Plate has leased space in Mobile County before, including a spot along Highway 43 and its current site in Chickasaw. The Axis location is a purpose-built operation designed to support the company’s growth.

The company supplies mill-certified plate and structural steel to industries including construction, oil and gas, power generation, pressure vessels, marine, transportation and tank manufacturing.
Chad Odom, general manager of Premium Plate, said the project reflects TF Warren’s commitment to the Gulf Coast region:
“The new facility will significantly expand our steel processing capabilities, improve efficiency and provide the capacity needed to support our customers as we continue to grow.”
