Craving fried shrimp in Bay Minette? You’ll have to make a drive now.
Shrimp Basket, the popular seafood restaurant chain, closed its Bay Minette, Alabama location on November 1, 2026.
The Baldwin County spot, which is located at 1111 US-31, is one of five Alabama Shrimp Basket locations shuttered by Artistry Restaurants, the group that owns the popular seafood joints.
According to an Artistry Restaurants news release, the group is focusing on its restaurants that are located near the beaches and the coastline.
“While never an easy decision, it is our responsibility to the team and our guests to ensure the continued strength of the Shrimp Basket brand. Upon re-evaluation and reflection, we decided that our strength comes from our origins as a true coastal seafood restaurant and that returning to our roots as a brand, while directing our resources and future investments towards our beach and coastal locations, will best serve our teams and guests.”

Shrimp Basket restaurants closed and remaining open
Artistry Restaurants is closing five Alabama Shrimp Basket locations:
- Bay Minette
- Gardendale
- Cullman
- Tuscaloosa
- Auburn
Three of the remaining Alabama locations that are remaining open are on the beach in Foley, Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. The fourth Alabama location staying open is in Evergreen, which is approximately 2 hours from the beach (Gulf Shores).
It is a mystery why they did not keep the more “coastal” Bay Minette Shrimp Basket spot.
