Mobile’s very own Red Clay Strays provided a rendition of the classic song, “Heartbeat of America,” this year to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
Chevy brought back their “Heartbeat of America” campaign this year. This advertising campaign focuses on what keeps America running: its people. The original Heartbeat of America campaign ran from the late 1980s to the early 1990s and featured upbeat Motown music from Aretha Franklin.
You can stream the song from the commercial on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms!
The Red Clay Strays formed in Mobile, Alabama, in 2016 and include:
- Brandon Coleman: Lead vocals, guitar
- Drew Nix: Guitar, vocals
- Zach Rishel: Guitar
- Andrew Bishop: Bass
- John Hall: Drums
- Sevans Henderson: Keyboard
The band achieved commercial success with their 2022 song, “Wondering Why,” which explores the complexities of love between individuals from different backgrounds. The song earned them their first single on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2023, after it went viral on TikTok. They recently won Vocal Group of the Year in 2025 at the CMA Awards.
The Red Clay Strays will kick off their “Grateful” tour on July 30 in Columbia, Maryland. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with new music and tour dates!
