New restaurant comes to Escatawpa Hollow Park and Campground

The Mobile County Commission will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Riverside Cafe & Grill at Escatawpa Hollow Park & Campground on Wednesday, July 15, at 10AM.
What is Riverside Cafe & Grill at Escatawpa Hollow?
The new venue combines a restaurant, gift shop and general store under one roof.
Operated by Stevie’s Kitchen — a local culinary staple known for authentic Southern comfort food — the facility expands amenities for overnight campers, day-use guests and residents in the surrounding Wilmer community.
It is located at 15551 Moffett Road in Wilmer within Escatawpa Hollow Park & Campground.
Riverside Cafe & Grill grand opening details

The grand opening celebration features a full schedule of community events:
- 10AM – Official ribbon-cutting ceremony and media site tours
- Noon – Doors open to the public for the first official restaurant service
- 8-9PM – Free “Movie in the Park” screening of “The Lorax”
The opening marks a major milestone in the Mobile County Commission’s multi-year investment into the 220-acre park. Funded through the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA), the ongoing improvements aim to protect local conservation efforts while maximizing public access to the white sand beaches and blackwater views of the scenic Escatawpa River.
Several local leaders and officials will speak at the morning ceremony, including:
- Mobile County Commission President Connie Hudson
- Patti McCurdy from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
- Reverend Alan Meyer of Wilmer Methodist Church
- Stevie Watford, owner of Stevie’s Kitchen
Following the ribbon cutting, the restaurant will transition immediately into lunchtime operations, welcoming its very first diners at noon.
