Four new fields open at Mobile County Sportsplex’s Soccer Complex
Reading time: 2 minutes

Four new lighted fields, a second restroom/concession building and 300 additional parking spaces are now open at the Mobile County Sportsplex Soccer Complex in Mobile as part of an $11.7 million Phase II expansion by the Mobile County Commission.
The additions bring the complex from three to seven operational fields.
What’s new at the Soccer Complex
- Four new LED-lighted, sodded fields
- A second restroom/concession building
- A new 300-space parking lot
- Total field count now at seven, up from three
The complex hosts soccer, lacrosse, rugby, flag football, ultimate Frisbee and other field sports. Phase I delivered three LED-lighted competition fields and parking for more than 200 vehicles.
An $11.7 million investment
The Phase II expansion represents a nearly $11.7 million investment by the Mobile County Commission. Commission President Connie Hudson, who leads the Sportsplex development, said the new fields boost the county’s tournament-hosting power.
“These four new fields mean additional opportunities for our young athletes and families while strengthening Mobile County’s ability to host regional tournaments that bring visitors and economic activity to our community.”
Connie Hudson, Mobile County Commission President
Construction began in September 2024 after the commission adjusted the master plan to move the four fields and second restroom/concession building ahead of the planned Championship Field.
What’s next
The master plan ultimately calls for 10 tournament-quality fields and a championship field with:
- seating for 2,000 spectators
- locker rooms
- concessions
- a press box
- an awards plaza
Design is complete, with construction expected by year’s end once the project is bid and awarded.
The Soccer Complex sits within the nearly 200-acre Mobile County Sportsplex at the intersection of I-10 and I-65 in Mobile, also home to the soon-to-open 40,000-square-foot Mobile County Aquatics Center.
