Big banking news is making waves here on the coast. JPMorganChase is planting roots in the Mobile Bay area, bringing the company’s first physical brick-and-mortar branches in the region.

Here is what you need to know about Chase Bank’s upcoming coastal expansion and what it means for our local economy.

Chase Bank expands Alabama retail footprint to triple locations by 2030

While Chase has historically served large corporate clients and universities across the state, they are rapidly building out their network for everyday consumers and small businesses.

According to Greg Hassell, a media representative for Chase, the bank is on a mission to triple its initial presence of seven locations up to 35 branches statewide by 2030.

Coastal residents will see this rollout begin in just a few months. Here is the current timeline for the new local branches:

  • Foley (Q3 2026): Located at 2400 South McKenzie Street, this branch is scheduled to open late this summer and will mark Chase’s official retail entry into the coastal market.
  • Mobile (Q4 2026): A new branch will open in the Mobile area before the end of the year.
  • Daphne (Early 2027): Construction is planned for 1998 US-98, with an expected opening in early 2027.
  • Fairhope (Future): Hassell confirmed that a Fairhope location is officially in the pipeline, with timeline details to follow.

The expansion extends past individual checking accounts. Mobile’s established maritime, manufacturing, and aerospace sectors make it a strategic focus for the firm.

“There is a lot of strategic business in Mobile, like shipbuilding and strategic industries. We want to be active in supporting that.”

Statewide, Chase provides financial services to major regional systems, including Infirmary Health System, and contributes to critical infrastructure projects, such as a recent $730 million Alabama Highway Authority bond to advance the West Alabama Corridor project.

Supporting South Alabama small businesses with capital and local grants

Small businesses make up 99.4% of all businesses in Alabama, yet finding capital under $100,000 can be a massive hurdle for local entrepreneurs.

To combat this, Chase launched a $2 million philanthropic investment to establish the Alabama Capital Access Collaborative (ACAC). The initiative provides technical assistance to local community lenders and connects entrepreneurs directly to the capital they need to scale.

The bank also has a history of backing unique community hubs in Baldwin County. Chase provided a $2.6 million New Markets Tax Credit equity investment to help fund the Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermens Market in Foley. Established after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the year-round market acts as a local business incubator for more than 200 rotating local farmers, bakers, and fishermen.

Job growth and career opportunities coming to the Mobile Bay area

The branch expansion will create more than 170 new jobs across Alabama. Chase full-time employees receive a minimum annual pay of $41,600, complemented by an average annual benefits package valued over $21,000, according to the company.

With more than half of Alabama’s citizens projected to live within an accessible drive of a branch by 2030, coastal residents can expect to see much more of the blue-and-white Chase logo along our local corridors soon.
