Brown Eyed Girl boutique in Daphne closes after 21 years

After 21 years as part of Daphne’s shopping scene, the Brown Eyed Girl closed its doors for good Wednesday, July 29, owners Stephanie Daniel and Debbie Gross announced on Facebook.

The women’s clothing and shoe boutique, which is located at 6880 US Highway 90, announced earlier this summer that a closure was coming without a firm date attached. Wednesday’s Facebook post confirmed the boutique’s final day had arrived, ending a run that began 21 years ago.

A community fixture closes in Daphne as the community shows support

Stephanie Daniel and Debbie Gross owned the boutique together. The two of them signed their goodbye message simply as “Stephanie and Debbie.”

“This store was never just about clothes. It was about the people who walked through our doors and the community that embraced us from day one.”

Brown Eyed Girl had a devoted, local customer base, and the owners earned their place as a community fixture in Daphne. The boutique’s final post received more than 400 likes and nearly 100 comments of former customers sharing well wishes and fond memories.

“21 years in retail is a true testament of how much you were loved. Your clothes may have been fabulous, but it was you and your mom that made the shop what it was. I am sure it was difficult to walk out of that door for the last time.”

In the announcement, the owners reflected on two decades in business and thanked customers for their support.

“As we walk through the doors for the last time today, our hearts are filled with gratitude. While it’s incredibly difficult to close this chapter, we leave with so many wonderful memories and the comfort of knowing how truly blessed we’ve been.”
