Amtrak Mardi Gras Service hits 150,000 passengers in first year, doubling expectations

The Amtrak Mardi Gras Service between Mobile and New Orleans surpassed and welcomed its 150,000th passenger the week of Aug. 18, 2026, during its first anniversary.
The popular, twice-daily service began Aug. 18, 2025.
According to trains.com, the first year passenger total more than doubles the number (71,000) Amtrak expected to serve during the inaugural year of the route.
Who are the supporters of the Amtrak Mardi Gras Service
The Amtrak service is sponsored by the City of Mobile, Louisiana and Mississippi transportation departments, in cooperation with the Southern Rail Commission (SRC).
