On Thursday night, the Jags took on Northwestern State in their second home game of the season and it was one for the record books.

Not only was it the highest score ever for the Jags, but it was also the highest points scored by an FBS team since 1991.

True Freshman Fluff Bothwell led the way on the ground carrying the ball 7 times for 143 yards and 2 TD’s.

He averaged 20.4 yards a carry and his longest run of the night was 57 yards.

If that was not enough Kentrel Bullock also carried the ball 8 times for 102 yards and also scored 2 TD’s. He averaged 12.8 yards per carry and had the longest run of the night at 59 yards.

PJ Martin couldn’t let those two have all the fun and also carried the ball 6 times for 72 yards.

He and Jarvis Durr both put one in the end zone for the Jags as well.

Tight End and Mobile Native DJ Thomas-Jones, had 3 catches for 32 yards with 2 TD’s.

He averaged 11.3 yards per catch, and his longest of the night was 18 yards, resulting in one of his 2 TD’s.

Starting QB Gio Lopez was 15/19 on the night throwing for 257 yards, 4 TD’s and zero interceptions. Lopez has 7 TD’s on the year so far with zero interceptions and 689 yards. The Jags scored 10 TD’s for a dominate 87-10 victory which was also the first win for Coach Applewhite.

Maurice Strong Jr. led the night in tackles with 7, 2 for a loss and 1 sack.

The Jags defense came up big with a total of 3 interceptions on the night, one each by Caldwell, Fortenberry and Jared Voisin, including a pick 6 by Caldwell. The defense also forced one fumble.

On Special Teams, Jamaal Pritchett scored on a 62 yard punt return for a TD and really set the tone for the night. Pritchett also had a receiving TD.

Laith Marjan was perfect on the night for extra points going 8/8 and was 1/2 for FG’s. Davis Little also came in and was perfect on extra points going 4/4.
