SUMMARY:2025 MudBottom Revival Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:Dog River Clearwater Revival (DRCR) is set to host the 10th Annual MudBottom Revival Music Festival\, an afternoon of live music dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Dog River improvement projects. \n\n\n\nThe event will take place on Sunday\, May 4th\, at the end of Riviere Du Chien Road (Bender Point – 3619 Riviere Du Chien Road) from 1 PM to 6 PM\, with general admission gates opening at 12:30 PM. \n\n\n\nCelebrating its 10th anniversary\, this year’s festival will feature an expanded three-band lineup\, headlined by Jimmy Hall & Friends\, alongside performances by Will Kimbrough & Friends and Red & the Revelers. \n\n\n\n\nJimmy Hall gained recognition as the lead vocalist\, saxophonist\, and harmonica player for the Mobile-based band Wet Willie. His blend of R&B-infused rock and roll and dynamic stage presence promises an exciting performance.\n\n\n\nWill Kimbrough\, a versatile musician and Mobile local\, has released nine albums and is a MudBottom favorite. Having performed at the festival numerous times\, his return is highly anticipated.\n\n\n\nRed & the Revelers\, led by Red Padilla\, deliver a high-energy swamp soul experience\, complete with a full horn section that brings an electrifying presence to the stage.\n\n\n\n\nAttendees of this family-friendly fundraising event are encouraged to bring coolers\, picnic blankets\, and chairs to enjoy live music beneath the oak-shaded banks of Dog River. Please note that tents\, sun umbrellas\, and pets are not permitted. Children 12 and under can attend for free\, and food and MudBottom merchandise will be available for purchase. \n\n\n\nTickets purchased before May 4th allow attendees to arrive by vehicle\, bike\, kayak\, canoe\, stand-up paddleboard\, or boat. Boat taxis will transport ticket holders from anchored spots to the dock. Restroom facilities will be available on-site. \n\n\n\nCarpooling is encouraged due to limited parking. Guests arriving by vehicle will be shuttled to the festival grounds via golf cart\, so packing lightly is recommended. \n\n\n\nTicket Pricing:\n\n\n\n$45 from April 28th until the festival (or until tickets sell out\, which is common!) \n\n\n\n$35 through April 27th

SUMMARY:Clotilda: The Exhibition at Africatown Heritage House
DESCRIPTION:Under the cover of night in the summer of 1860\, a ship carrying 110 Africans slipped into Mobile Bay. The Clotilda\, the last known US slave ship\, made its illegal voyage 52 years after the international slave trade was outlawed. In the years to come\, the displaced Africans survived enslavement and established a community as free Americans. But they also maintained their African identities\, creating the tight-knit\, independent community known as Africatown. Then\, in 2019\, it was announced that the shipwreck of the Clotilda had been discovered at the bottom of the Mobile River: a tangible link to the names and stories passed down through generations of descendants. \n\n\n\nIn March 2020\, the History Museum of Mobile announced a partnership with the Alabama Historical Commission\, Mobile County Commission\, and the City of Mobile to create a landmark exhibition at the Africatown Heritage House. Located in the heart of historic Africatown\, the Heritage House is adjacent to the Mobile County Training School and the Robert L. Hope Community Center. \n\n\n\nClotilda: The Exhibition covers the story of the Clotilda with a special focus on the people of the story – their individuality\, their perseverance\, and the extraordinary community they established. The exhibition tells the story of the 110 remarkable men\, women and children\, from their West African beginnings\, to their enslavement\, to their settlement of Africatown\, and finally the discovery of the sunken schooner\, all through a combination of interpretive text panels\, documents\, and artifacts. The pieces of the Clotilda that have been recovered from the site of the wreck are on display in the exhibition\, on loan from the Alabama Historical Commission. The exhibition was curated\, developed\, and designed in conjunction with the local community and the wider descendent community\, and in consultation with experts around the country. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition itself –about 2\,500 square feet – is a rich\, multi-sensory space\, dense with compelling stories and images. Woven into the larger story\, visitors can expect to see and hear lots of primary source reports and stories of individuals: their histories\, their families\, their resilient spirit. Inside the exhibition\, visitors can expect a dramatic space and a step-by-step chronology from the story’s West African origins through the founding and development of Africatown. Towards the end of the exhibition\, visitors will emerge into a space that looks towards the future of Africatown and invites visitors to respond to what they have seen. Tickets are available for purchase in advance on Clotilda.com. Mobile County residents receive free admission.

SUMMARY:Chamber Music Concert- Harp\, Horn & Strings
DESCRIPTION:If you love beautiful instrumental music\, you won’t want to miss this rare opportunity to hear some of the greatest masterpieces from the Classical and Romantic eras performed on the harp\, horn\, organ and string quintet! This program will be presented as part of the concert series at St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope.Josiah Bullach\, assistant principal horn of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra will be featured in the Mozart Horn Quintet\, along with other principal players of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. The Mozart quintet is not often heard in chamber concerts on the Gulf Coast\, but it is a popular\, virtuosic showpiece for the horn and epitomizes the best of Classical Era music. It is joyful\, lively\, elegant\, playful\, at times\, serene and always delightful!Another featured piece that few people have ever had the chance to hear live\, will be the Glière Harp Concerto. The Glière Concerto is one of the greatest masterpieces ever written for the harp and is marked by sweeping lyricism and deep expressiveness\, drawing on the traditions of Russian Romanticism reminiscent of Rachmaninoff. Rebekah Atkinson\, harpist\, will be the soloist and will be accompanied by the horn and strings for a powerful and passionate presentation.Additional pieces will include a cello showpiece by Saint-Saëns\, his rousing Allegro Appassionato\, Op. 43 and the ethereal\, intensely introspective “Sospiri” by Elgar for strings\, organ and harp. The event is free but donations are cheerfully accepted.
