DESCRIPTION:What’s Your Mobile Black History Story? \n\n\n\nThroughout February\, the City of Mobile invites the community to explore and celebrate the contributions of African Americans in the labor movement through the “What’s Your Mobile Black History?” series. This initiative highlights local generational histories and the impact of Black workers. \n\n\n\nResidents interested in sharing their personal stories can participate in a video series curated by the Black History Month Advisory Group. These stories will be featured on the City of Mobile Events Department’s social media channels and showcased at the Black History Month Celebration. Submissions should be emailed to events@cityofmobile.org by January 30 for consideration. \n\n\n\nArt Showcase\n\n\n\nIn honor of Black History Month\, artists are invited to present works that capture the resilience\, struggles\, and achievements of African Americans in the labor movement. This showcase seeks artistic expressions that reflect progress and the vital contributions of Black laborers to society. \n\n\n\nArtists of all mediums—including painting\, sculpture\, photography\, and mixed media—are encouraged to participate. Selected works will be displayed at the Black History Month Celebration on February 1. Registration is free\, with a sign-up deadline of January 30. \n\n\n\nBlack History Month Celebration\n\n\n\nThe City of Mobile’s Black History Month Celebration will take place on February 1 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico.
