DESCRIPTION:The Mobile Symphony Suzuki Institute is rooted in the teaching philosophy of Japanese violinist Shinichi Suzuki. Dr. Suzuki’s approach is based on the belief that “musical ability is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be developed.” He applied the basic principles of language acquisition to music learning\, calling his method the mother-tongue approach. As with learning to talk\, parents are involved in their child’s musical learning. Daily music listening and constant repetition are essential in learning to play an instrument. Children ages 4-7 are accepted for violin\, viola\, or cello. \n\n\n\nMusic Theory is Fun!Learning is fun\, and learning music theory is the best! The Mobile Symphony presents music theory in a step-by-step\, straightforward way for anyone who wants to have fun learning music fundamentals. This class covers treble clef notation\, time values\, time signatures\, sharps\, flats\, naturals\, note spelling\, and more. Understanding the basics of theory will be useful for life and for multiple instruments. \n\n\n\nSome students pick up music by ear\, but for the rest\, knowing the notes on the staff and their locations on the instrument is foundational. \n\n\n\nLEVEL I (Grades 4-6): Note reading fundamentals\, basic musical symbols and concepts\, melodic and rhythmic ear training.LEVEL II (Grades 7-12): More advanced musical concepts and ear training.
