DESCRIPTION:Hope Community\, in collaboration with the Mobile Bay Maker’s Market\, is proud to announce the first annual Our Roots Run Deep 5K fundraiser\, taking place on January 4\, 2025\, at the historic Anna T. Jeanes school property. Participants are invited to lace up their running shoes for this exciting event\, which supports community development while promoting healthy lifestyles and outdoor recreation. \n\n\n\nAfter completing the run or walk\, attendees can enjoy a day filled with delicious food\, live music\, and the opportunity to explore booths showcasing the talents of local makers and growers beneath the property’s beautiful oak trees. \n\n\n\nProceeds from race registrations will directly support the creation of a healthy teaching farm\, kitchen\, community center\, and gardens in the Fairhope South neighborhood. With just 200 square feet of garden bed capable of producing a season’s worth of fresh produce for one person\, your contribution helps foster unity\, education\, and well-being within the community. \n\n\n\nRace Highlights and Awards:\n\n\n\n\nAwards for the top overall male and female runners.\n\n\n\nRecognition for the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups:\n\n9 & under\n\n\n\n10-14\n\n\n\n15-19\n\n\n\n20-29\n\n\n\n30-39\n\n\n\n40-49\n\n\n\n50-59\n\n\n\n60-69\n\n\n\n70 & over\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWaiver and Guidelines:\n\n\n\nParticipants should ensure they are medically able and properly trained before entering the race. By registering\, participants accept full responsibility for their safety and agree to abide by race officials’ decisions. Certain items\, including bicycles\, skateboards\, baby joggers\, roller skates or blades\, animals\, and radio headsets\, are prohibited on the 5K course. \n\n\n\nThe race offers a chance to connect with the community\, support a meaningful cause\, and enjoy an inspiring event dedicated to unity and sustainability. DESCRIPTION:Start Times: \n\n\n\n\n7:25 AM: Wheelchair participants\n\n\n\n7:30 AM: Full Marathon\, Half Marathon\, and Relay runners\n\n\n\n12:30 PM: Fun Run\n\n\n\n\nStart Location: Church St next to Mardi Gras Park \n\n\n\nLocation:200 Government St.\, Corner of Government and Conception Streets. \n\n\n\nCourse Time Limit:The course will remain open for 7 hours. Participants must maintain an average pace of 16 minutes per mile or better. \n\n\n\nChip Timing:The race will be chip-timed. However\, per USATF rules\, official results will be determined by Gun Time. \n\n\n\nClothes Drop (Sunday\, Pre-Race): \n\n\n\n\nA clothes drop van will be available near the start line.\n\n\n\nRunners can place clothing items in provided plastic bags.\n\n\n\nItems can be retrieved near the end of the finish line chute at Lost and Found.\n\n\n\nRunners are responsible for personal belongings or clothing left on the course.\n\n\n\n\nBoston Marathon Qualifier:The Mobile Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. Official results for the marathon will be automatically forwarded to the Boston Athletic Association after final tallying.
