Drop off registration at McCoy Outdoor\, Run-N-Tri\, or Fleet Feet in Mobile\, or Running Wild in Fairhope until noon on Thursday\, April 4th. Early packet pick-up will be at Honey Bee Park pavilion on Thursday the 4th and Friday the 5th from 4-6pm. Race day registration and packet pick-up will take place at the Honey Bee Park from 7 – 7:45 AM.   \n\n\n\nShirts:  \n\n\n\nParticipants registered by March 21st will be guaranteed a tee shirt in the size requested on race day. After March 21st tee shirts CAN NOT BE GUARANTEED but will be given out to registrants as long as they last on race day. \n\n\n\nAwards:  \n\n\n\nPRIZES: Overall Male and Female 5K & 10K. 10K and 5K awards  for top three male and female in age groups: 14-under\, 15-19\, 20-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, 60-69\, 70-79\, 80 and over. \n\n\n\nFun Run:  Finishers 12 and under will receive ribbons and goodie bags. \n\n\n\nPost-race Party:   \n\n\n\nFood\, beverages\, music\, awards\, and door prize drawings after the race. \n\n\n\nCourse closure:  \n\n\n\nBoth race courses will close promptly at 9:30am. SUMMARY:Sandpiper Sprint 5K and Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:The Sandpiper Sprint is hosted in partnership between Baldwin County Sewer Service and Alabama Audubon and will be held in Summerdale\, Alabama on April 6th! The course starts and ends in the heart of downtown Summerdale next to Pioneer Park. For the first part of the race runners will head south into a more agricultural landscape that the area is known for. Around mile 2 the race reenters the tree lined neighborhoods of Summerdale where supporters can help cheer their runners on towards the finish line! The race ends back at Pioneer Park where awards\, food\, and festivities from sponsors and local environmental organizations await! \n\n\n\nThis is more than a race\, it’s a celebration of the birds that depend on the unique and vital habitats found in Baldwin County. From the sparrows and songbirds in your backyards to the gulls on our beautiful beaches\, birds are dependent on the health of area ecosystems for survival. This includes the health of native plants and pollinators too. The birds need the insects\, and the insects need native plants—and we need you! This event is open to everyone of all ages and will be a perfect opportunity to enjoy the outdoors\, whether running or not. \n\n\n\nAll proceeds from this race will go directly toward funding our Coastal Bird Stewardship Program\, which provides critical protection and monitoring for the 13 species of birds that depend on Alabama beaches for nesting and raising their chicks. DESCRIPTION:The Banding Coalition of the Americas (BCA) and Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuaries (DIBS) will host their 2024 annual spring bird-banding event on Dauphin Island\, Alabama\, on April 6-10\, from 8 am to 2 pm daily. Designated an Important Bird Area\, Dauphin Island is a critical rest stop for birds crossing the Gulf of Mexico on their way north for migration. It is one of the top North American spring migration destinations. \n\n\n\nJoin us for this free\, family-friendly bird-banding event—held across from the Goat Tree Reserve\, 700 Cadillac Avenue. Parking/picnic area/restrooms are located at Cadillac Square Park\, 661 Bienville Blvd (follow signs to event site)\, 1 block across the street. \n\n\n\nVisitors of all ages learn from researchers\, ask questions\, and can view and photograph the birds up-close as they are banded (then released.)
