DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wished you could create your own set of bowls and mugs to share delicious meals with family and friends? This class is the perfect plan for the middle of your week. Learn the basics of wheel-throwing in this 6-week beginners’ ceramics class. Instructor Jenny Williams will guide you to create your very own functional ceramic ware. \n\n\n\nStudents will create and glaze bowls and mugs made on an electric pottery wheel while exploring different decorating techniques over the course of the six-week workshop. \n\n\n\nThis workshop will meet each Wednesday from February 21\, to March 27\, 2024 from 5:30 pm – 8 pm. \n\n\n\nRegistration is $250 or $200 for ACAC members \n\n\n\nFor registration assistance or more information\, contact info@alabamacontemporary.org or 251-208-5671.

DESCRIPTION:Join the drawing community and kick off the week with a relaxing\, creative activity. Meeting weekly\, this self-guided class begins with short poses for gesture drawing and moves into longer poses for fuller sketches or drawings. You will be able to bring your own supplies and easel (optional)\, and work at your own pace\, with no prior experience necessary. This is an open studio with a live nude model. Attendees must be 18 years or older. No instructor is provided\, although the moderator may do a 20-minute demo upon request. \n\n\n\nThe drop-in class rate is $20 per session\, however students who purchase a class package in advance can attend any 6 classes for $110 and $100 for ACAC members. Once you sign up you will receive a punch card to track your class attendance. They will meet every Monday on the 3rd Floor of ACAC\, unless otherwise instructed. \n\n\n\nMore information here.

SUMMARY:Mardi Gras Mini Camp
DESCRIPTION:This three-day minicamp taught by ACAC’s own Pame Cevallos allows young artist to reflect on Mobile’s celebratory traditions and imagine the ways they can evolve in the future\, using mixed media and recycled materials to make one a kind artwork. \n\n\n\nThis camp is held Wednesday\, February 14th through Friday\, February 16th from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; the camp ends on Friday featuring an art show by the campers. This is designed for children ages 8 to 11 and limited to fifteen students in order to provide one-on-one art education. \n\n\n\n*Campers must bring a lunch and snack every day to eat during supervised breaks. DESCRIPTION:The third annual Holiday Homes Tour will be held on Saturday\, Dec. 16\, 2023\, at 11 a.m. at Historic Oakleigh House Museum. This tour will feature five historic homes along Government St. and the Oakleigh Garden District. The tour will also feature All Saints Episcopal Church. Each location will be beautifully decorated for the holidays. Live music and refreshments will be featured at The Historic Oakleigh House all day. There will be a variety of vendors such as So Jam Delicious and Dog Days Barkery. Tickets are $35 and include a tour of the houses and admittance to Candlelight Christmas at Oakleigh that same evening from 5 until 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in Oakleigh’s gift shop or by visiting historicmobile.org/events. Tickets will be sold on the day of the event at The Historic Oakleigh House.
