DESCRIPTION:The Dauphin Island Heritage and Arts Council (DIHAC) is pleased to announce “Corks For a Cause\,” a special fundraising event in support of free art classes for local children in kindergarten through fifth grade and preschoolers. The event will be held on Thursday\, September 5\, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Carriage\, located at 1522 Bienville Blvd\, Dauphin Island\, AL 36528. \n\n\n\nFor $35 per person\, attendees can enjoy delicious appetizers\, a cash bar\, live music\, and stunning sunset views from the venue’s deck\, all while supporting a meaningful cause. The evening will also feature a silent auction of original artworks\, offering guests the chance to take home unique pieces while contributing to the arts in the community. Tickets are limited\, so early purchase is recommended. Tickets can be bought on the DIHAC website and Facebook page. Please note that door tickets are not available at this time. \n\n\n\nAbout Kids Art Classes: DIHAC is nurturing children’s creativity with the “Art After School” program\, where imagination and artistry come to life. Guided by a skilled artist\, this class offers a journey through various art crafts\, with each session thoughtfully designed to foster artistic development and self-expression in a dynamic and enjoyable environment. \n\n\n\nClasses are intentionally kept small\, with a maximum of 10 students per session\, to ensure personalized guidance and a nurturing atmosphere. In this game\, each participant takes turns writing or drawing on a sheet of paper\, folding it to conceal his or her contribution\, and then passing it to the next player for a further contribution. \n\n\n\nThere will also be a screening of the short Surrealist film\, “Meshes of the Afternoon\,” made in 1943 by Maya Deren. DESCRIPTION:Join the drawing community and kick off the week with a relaxing\, creative activity. Meeting weekly\, this self-guided class begins with short poses for gesture drawing and moves into longer poses for fuller sketches or drawings. You will be able to bring your own supplies and easel (optional)\, and work at your own pace\, with no prior experience necessary. This is an open studio with a live nude model. Attendees must be 18 years or older. No instructor is provided\, although the moderator may do a 20-minute demo upon request. \n\n\n\nThe drop-in class rate is $20 per session\, however students who purchase a class package in advance can attend any 6 classes for $110 and $100 for ACAC members. DESCRIPTION:This three-day minicamp taught by ACAC’s own Pame Cevallos allows young artist to reflect on Mobile’s celebratory traditions and imagine the ways they can evolve in the future\, using mixed media and recycled materials to make one a kind artwork. \n\n\n\nThis camp is held Wednesday\, February 14th through Friday\, February 16th from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; the camp ends on Friday featuring an art show by the campers. This is designed for children ages 8 to 11 and limited to fifteen students in order to provide one-on-one art education. \n\n\n\n*Campers must bring a lunch and snack every day to eat during supervised breaks.
