DESCRIPTION:The Mobile County Commission is set to reopen Chickasabogue Park on Sunday\, February 23\, with a community celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony\, live music\, face painting\, food trucks\, lawn games\, and more at Chickasabogue Park\, located at 760 Aldock Road\, Eight Mile\, AL 36613. \n\n\n\nVisitors will have the opportunity to explore several new and upgraded amenities\, including: \n\n\n\n\nA redesigned day-use area with ample parking\n\n\n\nA new playground\n\n\n\nA new splashpad\n\n\n\nImproved multiuse courts for basketball\, pickleball\, and tennis\n\n\n\nA new restroom facility\n\n\n\nA new pavilion\n\n\n\nAn upgraded disc golf course\n\n\n\nEnhanced hiking and biking trails\n\n\n\n\nAttendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for comfort. Those interested in exploring Chickasabogue Creek should bring their own kayak or canoe. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from food trucks. The park gates will open at noon. To maintain a family-friendly atmosphere\, alcohol is not permitted in Mobile County parks.

DESCRIPTION:This advanced metalsmithing class is designed for students who are already comfortable with basic metalworking techniques and are ready to expand their skills. Participants will learn how to safely use a hand torch and flex shaft while exploring techniques such as creating open-back pendants\, sweat soldering embellishments onto pendants and earrings\, crafting various ring styles\, tube setting\, and experimenting with alternative bail types. \n\n\n\nStudents will be encouraged to apply their knowledge to develop original designs\, receiving guidance and approval from the instructor throughout the process. The workshop fee includes materials such as solder\, saw blades\, 3M polishing wheels\, and patinas. \n\n\n\nAll necessary tools will be provided by the instructor. Participants are advised to wear closed-toe shoes and tie back long hair. While not required\, Optivisors can be helpful.
