Lafayette In Mobile Reenactment
April 7, 2025 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
The History Museum of Mobile will host a special free event in the Fort Condé courtyard on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 12 p.m. as part of Lafayette 200—a nationwide tour presented by The American Friends of Lafayette. This initiative brings educational programming to the United States and France to commemorate the Bicentennial of Lafayette’s return to America as the “Guest of the Nation.”
Colonial Fort Condé is honored to be included in this historic tour, which retraces Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette’s original journey across America from 1824 to 1825, following his exact itinerary and dates.
To mark Lafayette’s visit to Mobile, the History Museum of Mobile will present a historical reenactment, offering guests the opportunity to interact with Lafayette himself and other living history interpreters. The program will provide insights into life in Mobile during the early American period following Alabama’s statehood in 1819, making this event a unique opportunity to experience history firsthand.
